WHAT IS PDR ?

What it is and how it started

'Paintless Dent Repair' or 'Paintless Dent Removal', also known as PDR, is the meticulous process used to permanently remove dents and dings from motor vehicles. It employs special tools and techniques that delicately work the metal back to its original form without damaging the original finish. This precision is why it is called 'paintless' as it eliminates the need for fillers, sanding or re-painting, which are methods traditionally used by 'body shops'.

Not only is PDR faster and more straightforward, but it also costs less than traditional bodywork repairs.

And when the original factory finish is preserved, so is the vehicle's value!

Successfully removing dents and dings through Paintless Dent Repair requires training, skill, and experience. Untrained individuals might crack, flake, or create ripples in the paint and metal if they attempt to repair dents at their own risk.

Paintless Dent Repair is not just a repair method; it's an art that demands patience, accurate vision, and a detail-oriented personality. This precision and artistry are why PDR is often referred to as 'Cosmetic Surgery on Metal.'. It's a testament to the high level of skill and precision required and a warning against amateur attempts that could further damage the vehicle.

Paintless Dent Repair History

Paintless Dent Repair is said to have its roots in Europe, in car assembly lines. It is also said that its techniques were developed in the Mercedes and BMW factories.

In the United States, PDR techniques did not start being commercialized until the 80s, with the creation of several companies and also by individual initiatives.

Keith was among the first technicians trained and certified in Paintless Dent Repair at the beginning of 1992. Since then, Keith has served the Central Texas community.

Why PDR Saves You Money

PDR x Conventional Autobody Repair

  • PDR is paintless! This means that the dents can be removed without the need to paint the panel where the dents are located. When dents can be repaired through PDR methods, the original paint is preserved, which keeps the value of your vehicle. It is possible to detect whether the paint is or is not the original factory finish when the time comes to trade in, buy or sell your vehicle.
  • Repairing dents with PDR improves the condition and value of your car by making your dented car look like new again.
  • Not all hail dents can be repaired by PDR, but you'll never know until you come in for an estimate.  Contact us today!
